commentary on the response from the topic diversity.
http://forums.shreveporttimes.com/viewtopic.php?p=110169#110169
We can discuss any level of detail that you care to.. and my inferences are not directed to saying that anything should be adjusted any way downward for blacks as some seem to imply or think I'm saying..
I have no qualms that many blacks have to assimilate into the systems and be motivated to accommodate many many changes in many ways ...
so if that's what you get thinking I'm, trying to say the system needs to bend to make it simpler for blacks.. NO!! blacks as well as any and all other have much strides to make.. and there is no group that has any level of perfection in this over-all. I will say this.. white are not of any perfection and also need to make adjustments in the nature of diversity awareness.. equally as well as blacks do...
I have no idea what the intent of the article is implying beyond what it states.. and that's the need for diversity to be a featured concern..
now if that job of superintendent has anything to do with "school conditions".. then I most certainly can see much need for greater diversity.. when I look at Fair Park and then Look at Bird.. they are very distinctly different in the nature of upkeep that is put into the general appearance of the school.. and if any of you don't see a visual difference in the two .. then you evidentially are not looking.. I would also think that both of them should be held to the same academic standards equally so... I don't care what the economic divide is of the two regions.. it's public schools.. and they should both meet the same standard... if that means one group must work harder to match where the other is.. then so be it..
but you people like to read what you want into stuff.. and seek out some slant that implies that someone is asking for some leniency for blacks.. but that's your mindset...
I will say this.. some of you still don't get the reality that the economics of whites has never been with the same balance for the blacks.. and have you people forgot the 60's the 70 and what is real today.. this country has been controlled by mostly white enterprise and white run system for over 400 years and more.. and that in fact and principal say.. that there is a difference in where people will be on an economic scale.. no slave masters gave any black people anything at the end of slavery nor the 200 years since.. except hell at the door of employments offices.. and menial jobs even in the unskilled sector.. and you may have selective memory and tunnel vision concepts.. but time tells it's own story... do any of you remember that it was the 60's that many whites stood in the doors of educational institution and blocked them physically.. and threatned to fire many people if they sent their black kids to an school that was slated for intergration.. "that's a fact".. so how do you expect people to catch up economically in 40 plus years when you had a 400+ year running start..
many of you talk a bunch of crap but you don't think in logical terms.. you think in "self entitlement terms".. and you can't see outside of that realm.
you take your butt out on the track and get a lap around on an 880 run and then expect someone to catch up after you are a lap ahead and running at full speed.. and then you are quick to criticize anything and everything... there is not one black person that would not love to have had 400+ years of economic empowerment behind them... you also forget the hundreds of years that your people beat black people even if they tried to learn to read... and you expect people to be socially adept at everything that you've been doing for hundreds of years with .. 50 years ago we could not even go to a drive in window at a hamburger stand... and yet we are only TWO generations from that point.. and you expect to see people acting like they have had 400 years of access and entitlement.. NO the problem is you can't see becase you don't want to see... and it makes you feel good to slam and belittle.. and then you talk about drugs and liquor.. blacks did not bring drugs in this country and they still can't get drugs across the borders of this country... and not one black owned distillery supplies liquor to the mass of liquor stores that were predominantly owned by whites and placed in black neighborhoods.. and who are the owners of the advertising companies that put all the liquor ads on billboards they own .. in the black neighborhoods.. darn ... take some responsibility to some of the trecherous and aiding and abetting that you and many of your ethnicity do.. and then hide behind a curtain and talk a bunch of crap..
we had no power in the white political establishment to go and fight this stuff being there when it damaged the generation that are now in their 50's and how that carried forth thru the 70's which affect many people who are in their 30's... but let you tell it you are "not" the blame for anything.. but it is still the whites who are shipping off the jobs saying the labor cost is too high.. but it was not too high when most of those jobs were held by white males.. but when white females and blacks got those jobs.. all hell broke loose and they went into union busting and shipping jobs away.. and the reality is they ship the jobs away and INCREASE the pay of the upper executive level which is predominantly white... it's called keeping the power in the hands of the selected... and taking away the jobs to avoid there being any change of economic elevation by blacks or women.. and a few tokens of each are allowed to make it thru the door.. but they remain under heavy guard and watchful eyes... and will be stuck down if they get a toe hold and it was not preplanned and given to them.. but hell. no.. there is no way they will be allowed to get it without prior approval. the glass ceilings are there and, they are being held in place by a great many non whites and non women. heads got busted and people got killed just 40+ some years ago just trying to exercise the right to vote.. but you like to selectively forget all of that.. becase it makes you see the brutality that was enacted by white males to hold back and hold down others.. and still you expect in such a short time we should have what you have.. " that's insidiously stupid to even think that, on a wide scale across the board mindset.. and nobody is asking you to give anything but the opportunity and the non condescending put downs and stereotyped mindset that keeps finding a million ways to show itself.. and a million more to utilize that stereotype attitude to justify segergated echelons of achievements .. but what happen after world war two.. s it's let's help the Jews, and then 25 or so years after .. let's pay the Japanese.. .. but what was done in this very same country.. before and during segregation.. there has been no move to say.. let's help the blacks, why.. becase the mindset is .. to believe that blacks don't deserve any help.. becase that deep core of seeing blacks as not up to measure to deserve any help is embedded deeply that many can't even peel off their layer os motivation at belittling to even see. .. No other people in this nation of America have been beat down and push down and physically abused and intimidated and any and every act imaginable of violence and neglecting to include and neglecting to give EQUAL opportunity unto..
there are business in this city that will not hire a black.. I met a lady at the Casino, who was white.. who told me the company she worked for which is some electrical supply company will not hire blacks.. she was told to tell them that there are no opening when any black came to apply.. and here we are in 2007. we have to still to this day have laws.. that fight .. for fair housing, fair practices in lending for home loans and many other things.. this is not existing becase there is no racism and prejudice.. this exist becase there is racism and prejudice.. and trying to ignore it does not make it go away and trying to deny it does not diminish it..
you people don't understand over the course of 400+ years a lot of thought went into how to make a slave and how to keep a slave and it simply found various methods of creating many elements of remains of what is of the enslaving mindset of dependency by paying less, and making the selections for many avenues remain with a paved road for the offspring's of the advantaged.. and in the mix.. the whites who are disadvantaged in such a system is considered collateral damage.
No let's get real and everyone get some diversity awareness and let's get on with living and making all of life equal..
never in the history of life and business has companies ripped the working class people who are basically poor whites and blacks and other's and then turned and payed ceo's anything near the outrageous salaries they pay and still claim they have to cut back and lay off people in the numbers of 10,000 at a time... there is method in the madness.. and there is tragedy in the sadness the madness creates.. and many still care to see only what they want to see and blind themselves to the elements that are part of what is.
just as I sad .. it gets very intricate when the discussion get's in depth.. but there are parts of this discussion some of you just don't want to have and will not open your minds up to have it..
We can go so far as to take Movies.. what was it the 90's before a black was even allowed to win a Oscar for best actress... and probably would not have got that if she had not got naked and had sex with a white male on screen. We are making strides but they are slow... and there is a struggle and a battle all the way..
any Black leader that speaks .. it's always some slang moniker name attached to them... and they have to be referred to as the black this or the black that.. instead of being simply addressed by name.
Barak Obama is referred to as "the black" senator from Illinois.. not just the Senator, Obama from Illinois.. so until that departs from the mind and he can just be "a Senator", from Illinois.. then you understand very well that you put the color before the discussion of the man..
some may need to look at themselves before they start slinging their crap. but anything that even remotely implies that you need to look at yourself .. you attack it without thought to even consider to look at yourself first... and pay attention to what is within what you say.. that .. may well be something you need deeper understanding about before you start criticizing and belittling.. but .. truth be told that has been and is the generalized manner .. that has been the habit for 400+ years... so yes there need to be some definite diversity awareness.
you can attack my writing all you want.. but it does not element the points nor the facts and hopefully you will go into more of what I write and pick it apart .. becase then we all may just gain more thru further discussion.
